Celebrating New Life and New Beginnings Written by Yvonne Dagger  Living in New York this time of the year, I yearn for the warmer weather. With winter behind us I look forward to witnessing new life emerging from the soil. The sun is stronger and fills the vegetation with much needed chlorophyll. I love to see the crocuses popping their little blossom heads from the ground. The leaves and flowers begin to fill the empty branches with their beauty on the barren winter trees. To me, it's a beautiful time of the year. Baby birds sing their song of happiness; butterflies emerge from their cocoons. New life is evident all around us. Some people celebrate Easter, some Passover and some simply welcome new life and new beginnings. My family and I celebrate Easter. I have childhood memories of my mom creating and sewing my Easter outfits and my grandmother designing and creating my Easter bonnets. My grandmother was a famous New York City milliner who owned Frances Adams Hats. She created hats for Eleanor Roosevelt and many other famous people. My mom was a clothing designer and pattern maker back in the late 1940's and throughout the 1950's and 60's. She designed and created gowns for Lucille Ball and many other celebrities. I guess you could say I come from a family of creative people. When I was young I didn’t give it a thought…I suppose I may have even taken for granted the notion that my family were a bunch of creative people. For years I thought everyone had a mom and grandma who designed and created everything they wore. As I reflect on their talents, I've come to see how blessed I was and still am. We always worked with our hands. I still find it challenging to create from a computer. I prefer the brush to a mouse any day. But, that’s me. I admire tech savvy people so much and as I work with the computer more and more, I can see how creative technology can be. I'm using many creative computer programs now and finding it very rewarding. But, I'll continue to stress that I feel much more comfortable working with a brush and canvas then a mouse. My computer skills are getting better each day constantly evolving opening up so many new beginnings for me. Dagger's life as a canine artist keeps me open to recognizing that we are in store for many pretty exciting happenings in the future. Sometimes I scratch my head and wonder where our journey together will lead us next. It's an exciting journey and Dagger and I love it!! New Beginnings can be exhilarating, stimulating and breathtaking. It's all in the way you view the world. I invite you to take notice of the new and bright beginnings blossoming all around you and as you take these beautiful happenings in…celebrate it all... and Celebrate YOU too!! What a beautiful story. Yes it's interesting when you grow up with creative people, you think everyone is like that. It's a blessing. My father was a builder & carpenter. My mom sewed and was a cake decorator. My great grandmother was a tailor ( though I never knew). I hope that those things are handed down as they are true gifts. I'm a twin too! I have a twin brother. I'm so happy that Dagger inspires so many lives and your families heart shines through him. 🥰 Leave a Reply. |
